Recovery is a place, not just a program.
CHR is a peer-run community in Phoenix where adults with mental health and substance use conditions find support, skills, and belonging — from people who've been there too. 100% of our Community Day Program services are peer-delivered.
Two ways to find care at CHR
CHR runs two connected programs on the same Phoenix campus. Most people start in one or the other — here's how to tell which fits.
Peer-run recovery support
A day program built and delivered by people with lived experience — classes, groups, and one-to-one peer support for adults with SMI, mental health, or substance use needs. Enrolled through your case manager, a clinic referral, or self-referral.
Behavioral Health Home
Psychiatric evaluation, medication management, counseling, and case management for individuals with Serious Mental Illness assigned through the Regional Behavioral Health Agreement in Maricopa County.
"I worked with CHR to build my recovery plan, and I'm seeing my days with hope. I've found the part of me that was missing."
David, CHR participant

Skills development
Morning programming on communicating with others, resolving conflict, managing emotions, budgeting, and keeping housing — practiced, not just discussed.
Pre-employment and education
GED prep, interview skills, resume writing, and workplace etiquette in a dedicated Adult Education room with computers on hand.
Peer recovery support training
A 60-hour, state-recognized training that credentials graduates to work as professional Peer Recovery Support Specialists.
